Sample Business
Plan
If you want to see
a sample of what a business plan looks like, then you
can go to the demo
on this site to get an overview. You can also find out
what a business plan should contain by going to Business
Plan Template.
Do not be
tempted to adapt a Sample Plan for your own use
You may come across several sample plans, available
on the internet. Whilst they are useful to look at from
the point of view of layout, presentation and content,
do not be tempted to adapt one of these – even
if it seems to be relevant to your business. It may
appear to be a convenient and easy way to produce a
plan but the objectives of the person who wrote that
plan may be different and you may miss out on going
through the right thought processes required for your
business. Also question whether the plan has been written
for the UK market – some of the sample plans available
are of American origin. By ‘borrowing’ someone
else’s plan, you could be in serious danger of
missing out some important elements in your own business
plan.
Start from basics – not
a sample
The only way to write an effective and successful plan
is to start from basics, not a sample. You need to prepare
an outline
and then obtain a software format that gives you comprehensive
guidance notes and prompts as to what to include and
work through it systematically. You will then have a
well-considered plan and an understanding of your objectives
and how you are going to achieve them, which will stand
scrutiny from potential lenders, shareholders or the
bank manager.
