Plan Resources
In preparing your
plan you will undoubtedly need information and perhaps
some assistance. So where do you go to find these resources?
Finding help
You could ask your accountant, solicitor or bank if
they have any contacts that can help you. But your local
Business Link, Enterprise Centre or Agency might be
a good place to start. They can usually put you in touch
with an adviser who can help you in reviewing your plan
– their external input could provide some useful
lateral thinking and important objectivity.
Finding information
The web is a great source of information for guidance
on business plans and a cheap way to begin your market
research into market statistics, the competitors, customers
and marketing activity. Another good source of free
advice is your local Business Link. You could go to
your library or contact your local Chamber of Commerce
or Economic Development Officer. Note that we also provide
a list of useful links in our directory
on this site.
Finding planning
tools
You can search the web for all sorts of planning tools,
from templates to software packages, to help you create
a business plan. But don't be misled by the claims that
software tools produce winning plans and help people
get millions of pounds of backing. They may indeed have
helped, but at the end of the day it is you that writes
the plan – not the software – and you have
to choose a method that is suitable for you to write
a convincing proposition for an investor or lender.
You may need to seek some advice or recommendation on
this – see what our users
have to say.
